Is there a festival in the Netherlands like Into The Void? Well, actually not. After four editions Into the Void has become a much appreciated music festival when it comes to stoner, sludge, doom and everything related. The fifth edition will take place on the Friday 20th and Saturday 21st of October, 2017 in the cultural capital of the north: Leeuwarden in the venue Neushoorn.

Over 25 bands divided over 2 days will kick your ass and blow your head! The festival is not only known for its massive line-up, but also for the good atmosphere, the beautiful artwork and t-shirts. We picked 5 bands you don’t wanna miss at Into The Void 2017.

God Is An Astronaut, hailing from Glen of the Downs, Ireland, are currently one of the biggest instrumental bands out there. They took their name from a line in Clive Barker’s film ‘Nightbreed’. After almost 15 years after the formation of the band and 8 albums into their discography, the band’s outlook and ethos still remains the same as it did on their debut – the priority being on releasing and performing music they love. God Is An Astronaut will perform an exclusive NL show at Into the Void, so fans should definitely attend!

Saint Vitus are a highly influential American doom metal band from Los Angeles. They have been regarded as one of the first bands of the genre, starting out as early as the late 1970s. For most of their career, the band comprised vocalist Scott Weinrich, bassist Mark Adams, guitarist Dave Chandler and drummer Armando Acosta. After breaking up in 1996, Saint Vitus briefly reunited for a tour in 2003, and are back together again as of 2008. The band is working on new music, so perhaps we can expect some new tunes from this cult band at Into the Void!

The legendary Swedish band Candlemass started out around 1984 and are seen as one of the pioneers of the doom metal genre. The band celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2015 and since then, vocalist Mats Levén has joined the Doom Metal Squad as a permanent member. The discography of Candlemass features a couple of genre classics, such as the records Epicus Doomicus Metallicus (1986) and its successor Nightfall (1987). Expect genuine, doom metal with heavy riffs and vocals that blow your mind at Into the Void 2017.

Elvis may be dead but he is not yet done. The Memphis legend is rocking like never before, back from the grave, alone and more raw and primitive than ever! Taking care of business as a one man band. Dead Elvis without the Memphis Mob, Pills or Viva Las Vegas. Just one monster playing drums guitar and howling like he’s got nothing to lose! This is primitive Rock & Roll as it is meant to be! Since late 2005 Dead Elvis had a worldwide impact and has become an inspiration to many. His haunted style of rock and roll is burning like wildfire and gaining a fan base across generations and genres.

The Norwegian stoner rock group Kal-El was formed in 2012 by members from Theatre of Tragedy, Six Eyes Lost and Desspo. The four piece is inspired by the likes of Black Sabbath, Kyuss and Monster Magnet. They describe themselves as the ‘fuzzed-out step-child of hard rock and heavy metal, often with hints of psychedelic and blues rock as well as doom metal.’ Kal-El will release their highly anticipated new record Astrodoomeda on August 25th, so you can definitely expect some new tunes from the band at Into the Void 2017.
