Metal band Slayer is performing again five years after parting ways. The American metal band Slayer will perform again almost five years after its farewell tour. The group is on the bill of two festivals in the United States.
For now, this only concerns performances during the Riot Fest in Chicago on September 22 and the Louder Than Life festival in Louisville five days later. The last time Slayer was on stage was in November 2019.
The band missed a performance. “Nothing can compare to the ninety minutes of playing live on stage and sharing that intense energy with our fans,” says singer and bassist Tom Araya in the press release with the announcement. “Did I miss performing live? Absolute. Slayer means a lot to our fans and they mean a lot to us. It’s been five years since we last saw them,” adds guitarist Kerry King.
It was never clear why Slayer decided to stop performing in 2019, although there were rumors that Arraya no longer wanted to continue and that King was not happy about that. It has also not been announced why the band has now decided to return.
