Bring On The Bloodshed is one of the hardest working metal/hardcore bands I know. With everything they do, these guys and girl give everything! Needless to say the same goes with their new album ‘Amongst The Ruins’. Bring On The Bloodshed got rid of their semi-hardcore label and give you a full-on metal kick in the teeth. The release show of the album will take place in Patronaat on February 6th, 2016.
One of the things that I noticed instantly, is the improved songwriting. It’s riff driven and more technical than there previous work. I like it a lot! The music is quite ‘Gothenborg’ influenced so to speak, but without being a simple rip off of Swedish melodic death metal. As on their debut ‘Dark Clouds’, Rogier’s voice still reminds me of Napalm Death’s Barney, which is obviously a good thing. Although I have to say that his voice is way more brutal live on stage.
So all in all ‘Amongst The Ruins’ is one hell of an album. It’s steady from the first notes of ‘Redemption’ until the last notes of ‘Pain To Come’. The songwriting is improved quite a bit. As a result of that the music leans more towards metal, leaving the hardcore behind. Which is, in the case of ‘Bring On The Bloodshed’, a good thing. Don’t get me wrong, I love hardcore, always have. But I love the metallic approach of ‘Bring On The Bloodshed’.
