Gingerpig | Mezz, Breda | 2015

February 27, 2015 | Mezz, Breda – The Dutch blues(hard)rock band ‘Gingerpig’ played in Mezz Breda to celebrate the release of their new album ‘Ghost On The Highway’.  Tessa was there to write a review about the show. Pics are made by Emmelie Herwegh.

Duke John
The bluesrock band ‘Duke John’ from Bergen op Zoom/Utrecht was the support-act this evening. The hall was still half empty when they started playing. This Dutch seventies rock band was full of energy, but the crowd wasn’t. Everyone was hanging at the bar or on the stairs. It’s too bad, because the band gave all to make it a good show. They played some songs of their own and some covers. But even with the covers the crowd wasn’t making much noise. With a small applause the band left the stage.

Gingerpig
When Gingerpig started playing, there were more people. Most of them were family of the band or good friends. Everyone was moving, clapping or singing along with the old songs the band played. All the new songs, and the new bassist Daniele Labbate, were received with a lot of applause. Singer Boudewijn Bonebakker has a great voice and shows the crowd what he’s made of. With a lot of masterpieces, he brings every song. But those masterpieces are the same over and over again. This makes the songs all the same and it seems you’re listening to the same song again. But the crowd doesn’t seem to notice and is partying along with Gingerpig. And after a thank you to friends, family and crew they’re ending the show with a few more songs. The band can be very pleased with the show and the crowd.
