Rammstein in Groningen for two days in a row. Who would have ever dared to dream that! The tour is part of their “European Stadium Tour”, which is running since 2019. A huge succes with sold out shows in every city they visit. I saw the band for the first time in 1997. A relative unknown band back then, with lots of potential. Not much later they broke through worldwide.
About 55,000 people have gathered in Groningen’s Stadspark. The atmosphere is good with both the old and the younger fans. The most obvious part on the field is the stage construction, including massive towers with lights, fire and flames. At the back of the field are 4 huge stands. As soon as the band starts with ´Rammlied´ it is clear: this is going to be a great evening. The sound and volume is are very good, despite the many criticisms beforehand. The discredited Till Lindemann also does not let himself be fooled and sounds flawless. The fireworks shoot into the air on all sides from the towering stage with almost every song. Particularly during ‘Sonne’, the black clouds of smoke rise far above the city. I love it!
They play the song ‘Engel’ from Stage-B. Afterwards, they return to the main stage in a dinghy over the audience. A standard ‘surprise’ within their setlist. After about 3 hours of metal, fireworks and entertainment, the impressive concert comes to an end with the song ‘Adieu’. They can safely be called the masters of their genre. A pleasure to watch and listen to. They do it again tonight in Groningen. Hopefully they will return with a completely new show very soon!
