Icon – Behold The Atrocity (album review) ★★★☆☆

Icon from the Netherlands brings you a blend of technical death metal and grindcore. In the end of 2015 they released their debut album ‘Behold The Atrocity’ and I can already tell you: it sounds furious!

Prepare yourself for 9 tracks of ravaging brutality that’s coming your way. Fast and furious death metal with not much moments of rest in it. The drums are very straight in your face filled with blasts and up tempo beats and the guitar riffs are filled with fast leads, riffs and melody lines. The vocals are grunts that are deep, but well understandable. The production and composing of the songs are very good! Everything is just good in balance and nice to listen to.

My favorite song of this album is the fifth track ‘The Contract’. It’s is bit different than the other songs, because it’s filled with a dark threatening tension. Icon definitely knows how to play technical and interesting death metal with sometimes the rawness of grind. The basics are just simple: fast brutal songs that are well executed! Is it very special and are they unique with this album? No certainly not, but the album is just fast and furious and kept my attention through every song!
